International Travel Letter
Traveling internationally with ADHD stimulant medications requires planning. Medications that are routine in one country may be controlled substances, require documentation, or even be prohibited elsewhere. Please do your own research as the following is a brief overview only.
1. Check the rules for each country you’ll enter
Before travel check (1) The destination country’s embassy or health authority guidance. (2) Any countries where you have layovers, especially if you’ll pass through immigration or collect/recheck baggage.
2. Carry medication in original packaging
Keep medications in their original pharmacy-labelled containers with your name matching your passport, in your carry-on luggage.
3. Bring documentation
It’s often wise to carry a copy of your prescription plus a letter from your prescribing clinician explaining your diagnosis, the medication name and what the medication is for.
4. Travel letter request form
