Eligibility Criteria for ADHD Medication

Patient safety is our highest priority. For this reason, we conduct a screening process before the Medication Assessment to ensure that you are eligible for treatment. This helps to avoid situations where a patient pays for an assessment and later finds they are not suitable for medication.

Eligibility Criteria

To access our medication service, your ADHD Assessment must have been conducted by one of the following services:

(1) Midlands ADHD Clinic/ Malvern Hills Private Practice
(2) an NHS Service
(3) an assessing Psychologist on our Partnership Pathway (please check with your assessor) or
(4) a Right to Choose provider; assessed on a case by case basis following evaluation of your Assessment Report.

You are aged between 11 years and 65 years.

No evidence of a substance misuse disorder (including alcohol). If you have previously used substances or consumed alcohol heavily, a minimum of three months’ abstinence is required before starting medication. A third person must also be present during consultations to confirm ongoing sobriety.

No active psychosis, schizophrenia, or unmanaged bipolar disorder.

No suicide attempts within the last six months and no significant self-harm within the last six months.

No unstable or severe cardiovascular disease, and no significant cardiac history (this will be assessed further if relevant).

Blood pressure must be within the normal range.

No diagnosis of hyperthyroidism or glaucoma.

Once you have completed a Self Referral for Medication, you will receive a Health Screen by email, which will further explore potential contraindications. We may request further information from you G.P and/ or an ECG with interpretation (additional fee) as everyone is considered on a case by case basis. .
